Camera:

Nikon Coolpix L120
Ok, so I'm posting a bit later today so that I can take photos and add them in to this blog.  Tim was very thoughtful and got me a new camera.  And then he had to tell me to be thankful and to shut up about spending money that it was a gift.  See my smile :), I am very thankful for Tim.

I've only ever had a point and shoot camera.  My last one I got years ago.  I'm racking my brain on how long ago it was and I can't remember.  When I bought it, it was brand new on the market and a whopping 6 megapixels.  I sold it to Madalyn last year.

I used my camera quite a bit in Nepal, but not a lot on other spiritual trips.  Sometimes not taking any photos.  I wanted to simply be in the moment.

Tim's got a DSLR and while I don't know how to use it, I asked if I could use it.  "If you make sure you always clean off your photos" fingerprints, dust, etc... He actually isn't that bad, but that's what I heard after photos, hehehe.  So I'm guessing the new camera also has ulterior motives (don't touch my camera).

I've always enjoyed photography as an art form.  I don't know anything about DSLRs.  I took oil painting, graphic design, and computer art in college.  I've thought a few times of taking photography and pottery at GRCC (local community college) and may end up doing that someday.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF2K
Yesterday when I was trying to learn more about DSLRs (before Tim got home) I learned about the intriguing hybrid cameras.  Point and shoots with great low light, exchangeable lenses, trimmer bodies... ooh.

This is an older model and definitely more affordable than other hybrids, but it's also only a 12.1 megapixel.  The other ones I saw on Crutchfield were easily 2 to 3 times more expensive.

Maybe some day.  I'm excited to try out the Coolpix's zoom.  This is the most advanced and tricked out camera I've ever had.  Then again, in the past if it didn't fit into a pocket, I didn't want it.  And I've got time to read the manual before leaving to the beach.  BTW, we are going Tuesday through Friday of next week.  Woot!

Decorating:

A friend stopped by yesterday (waves to Tammie!) while I was inbetween coats on the Formica.  After I got to thinking.  Do you know what decorators consider the 2 most important to decorate?  The first room you come to when entering the home and the main bathroom.  Why?  Because visitors will see those 2 rooms more than any other.  I disagree, I think your bedroom should be in the top 2.

Did you know that your artwork should hang at eye level?  Tammie and I were laughing at that.  The artwork in my bedroom are technically at my eye level and I think above her head... I try to hang things around the average eye level, but some things were placed high enough to keep outta baby hands and heads.  It is crazy what kids can get into!

Did you know that for your sleep health that you should not have any bookshelves, desk, or anything else that reminds you of work in any form in your bedroom?  I broke that rule.  My writing desk is in my bedroom.  It is one of my favorite pieces of furniture.  The back flips down and the front flips up so you can close the whole thing up and I love the apothecary drawers in it.

When I designed my bedroom I built it around the desk somewhat.  I do the bulk of my writing in my bedroom as it is one of the few rooms I can close myself off in so the desk was a must for me and I wanted the bedroom to be an environment to support me when I'm writing.  Which for me is not contrary to sleep.  I need peace, quiet, and prefer a luxurious setting to write in.

I was walking through the rules with Tim on sleep, bedroom, and what should go in the bedroom recently and I was asking him where I could move my desk to and he agreed that my writing desk didn't need to move.  He also felt that it fit into the idea of the rule even though not the rule itself.

Update:

I woke up with a headache and I think I know why.  Laminate paint is an abomination!  But the bathroom is already looking better.  It looks like they have a darker product as well.  Argh, I would have liked something darker, but alas I am not painting any more with this product for a while.

If I had to guess, the Kells prints start at around 7 feet up for a perspective on this next photo.  We have 8 foot ceilings.  I'm not sure how true the colors in these photos will be for ya, but the curtains are a touch lighter than what our walls used to be.

Here is another shot of our bedroom...

My bathroom isn't easy to photograph as it is so small, so you get this or the tub, the toilet or a mirror shot, hehe.

And what the hell?  This was after I asked for the room to be put back together yesterday.  What's the point?  I think I'm insane.  If you continue to do the same thing over and over again and expect different results... viola, parenthood!  The little girls' room is even worse.  I'll save ya from that.

Main bathroom: it is torn apart and being scrubbed down.  The laminate paint takes 3 days to dry so it will be completed on Sunday at the earliest.  And Monday at the latest as we can't leave it undone while we are gone and Gma is babysitting.

I got the caulk done in my bathroom yesterday.  Today I might need to start in the hallway as the bulk of what is left to do in the bathroom is stuff for Tim.

Oh oh oh.  I love this.  Now that my room is cleaned and organized, I've been resting in my room again.  Right?  My minions love it as well and its not uncommon now to find us all sprawled across the bed and floor, reading, watching Fraggle Rock, or tickling each other.  Anna even joined us last night.  Awesomeness!
