Seriously. At 3 a.m. I turned off my alarm and didn't even bother attempting 7 a.m. Although, 8:30 a.m. wasn't too much later in consideration.
At the beginning of the month I stopped almost all caffeine after 2 p.m. While it may not affect everyone in the same way and may not affect your ability to go to sleep, it can cause fragmented sleep. And fragmented sleep is our nemesis.
When you sleep you cycle through the different types of sleep. Deep sleep (Delta) and REM are the most important types of sleep. These two types regenerate the necessary hormones, repairs, and reset of our different systems. The other two cycles are unexplained unconsciousness.
Fragmented sleep will stop the cycles and you must start over again reducing your deep sleep and REM sleep. It is one of the main reasons you can sleep for 8 hours and be exhausted when you wake up. You slept, but not the sleep you need.
So no caffeine after 2 p.m. was an easy thing to change. Sometimes when I run errands I treat myself to a Mountain Dew. Yeah so... Tim decided to have pizza and beer for dinner and my equivalent is pizza and dew... wait... Another tip coming.
I cannot remember the source of this info, however this one works for me and dieting. You consume more calories when you consume your normal foods and drink. Really? When I decide to get a 2 liter as a treat now I try to get something other than Dew so I don't drink it all in one meal. And it works. 2 liters can last almost a full week for me now.
Last night when I was picking up the necessary Friday cheats I decided to get MD Voltage so that I'd drink it slowly. I finished my 20 ozer at 8 p.m. and then had a glass of Voltage at 10 p.m. BTW, Voltage also has ginseng added to it.
I was absolutely exhausted and ready for bed and my heart was racing like I was gearing up for a race. I would nod off for a sec and then startle awake like I was a scared rabbit. <facepalm> Seriously, by now you'd think I'd remember that MD has caffeine and its a no no along with coffee and chai for the evening.
Doh!
