Should you buy the thing?
Should you do the thing?
Should you start the thing?
Should you use any resource for this? By resource, I mean your time, money, brain space.
There is a saying, "If it's not a hell yes, it's a no."
New shirt that sort of fits you. Maybe it's super trendy, but might make you look a little thick through the shoulders. Or a trendy color that isn't quite you. Or makes you feel like you are playing a role in all the wrong ways. That's not a hell yes, so don't buy it. We buy things all the time that are mostly right and since it's so close we believe we will get use out of it. How many times do you give it away while carrying guilt over it?
Yeah, you need a white shirt and no white shirt is going to fill the role of hell yes for your color loving soul. That's a bit different and you know it.
If you are wondering if you should use your precious resources on something, start asking yourself if you truly want to do it. Stop doing it out of guilt. Or close enough even though close enough "only works in horseshoes and hand grenades."
Push yourself out of your comfort zone from time to time, but stop making yes your default answer!
