Are You Doing Self-Care Right?

EVERYONE is talking about self-care.  It's a bit ridiculous.  Especially since the most important aspect often gets overlooked.

At the bottom of the page is a video where Alexandra goes into this a bit.

The aspect that is missing is the part where you care about yourself.  As you are using that body scrub, you are loving that body that has brought you through so much.  As you are painting your Hobbit feet, you are loving them for the adventures they have carried you through.

I have what I call "spa" day.  I shave (yeah, so I do this like once a year, j/k, maybe).  I use my favorite coffee scrub.  I deep condition my hair.  Use a face mask.  Mani and pedi (sometimes this is me and sometimes this is a salon).  Etc...

Anyhow, I get aggravated doing this kind of self-care as it feels like just another thing I have to do.  And then....

And then I ran across something like this:

I don't know about you, but things like this piss me off.  High maintenance?  Why are we degrading women for anything that we as a society signifies as being "womanly".  Why does the amount of shoes I own give anyone the right to denigrate me?

Fuck you and fuck society... well, you know what I mean.

This totally lit me up and I was like "no one has the right to criticize me for doing things I enjoy.."  Doh!

Why am I once again taking something that should be relaxing, soothing, meditative and turning it into a task once again?

Some day I'll learn.

Be you.  Love you.  No excuses.  No apologies.  No minimizing.
