The highway of the upright turns aside from evil; he who guards his way preserves his life. Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. ~Proverbs 16:17-18
Dude, I can't tell you how many times I've told myself that a little of this and a little of that are ok. I can't tell you how many times I've heard other people tell others the same thing.
Or they get on their moderation horses and preach about moderation. Have a bit of this and a bit of that in moderation... it's ok even if it leads to sin.
Is that what God wants from us?
If you think you can handle a little bit of this.... that's pride. Pride goes before the fall.
Jesus preaches that a humble spirit will be blessed and the kingdom of heaven will be theirs.
I'm recovering from a migraine so in my head this writing is FIRE, lol. Hopefully I am giving this bit of scripture it's due diligence.
Give God your all. Even your broken and sinful nature. Offer it up to him. He knows your weakness which is why in his word he repeatedly says to guard your way.
I know I have a pagan heart. Are crystals bad? Nope. They are a beautiful expression of God's love. Do I have a tendency to worship the creation instead of the creator? Yep. I guarantee you that God knows this and sees my heart and accepts me as I am.
My highway must lead me continuously towards God. I must guard my way. I must confess my lowly spirit and give it to God. I am weak. I rest my head against God's breast and borrow his strength.
Where do you need to borrow God's strength? Where is your highway leading you?
How... are you guarding your way?
