The Central Mystery of Christian Faith

"The Trinity" by Laurent Girardin is marked with CC0 1.0.

"The mystery of the Most Holy Trinity is the central mystery of Christian faith and life. It is the mystery of God in himself." (CCC 234)

How are you living this out in your life?  Is the mystery of the Trinity the central mystery in your life?  I was asked this recently and what a compelling thought!

"...how, by the divine missions of the Son and the Holy Spirit, God the Father fulfills the 'plan of his loving goodness' of creation, redemption and sanctification." (CCC 235)

The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit have a plan of loving goodness, including creation, redemption, and sanctification.  So many questions here to think about.  How do you view creation, the world around you, and the people around you to be loving goodness?  God redeems.  Check.  God sanctifies... how are you allowing God to make you holy?  Are you a willing participant in this plan?

Some other things to reflect on:

"...'He is not the Father who is the Son, nor is the Son he who is the Father, nor is the Holy Spirit he who is the Father or the Son.' They are distinct from one another in their relations of origin..." (CCC 254)

"The mission of the Holy Spirit, sent by the Father in the name of the Son (Jn 14:26) and by the Son "from the Father" (Jn 15:26), reveals that, with them, the Spirit is one and the same God. 'With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified' (Nicene Creed)." (CCC 263)

From God we have plants, animals, man, and angels.  This "fromness" is external to God.  God creates us.  The Son and the Holy Spirit are also from God, but this "fromness" is internal to God.  And it is eternal.

God reveals himself to us in small and profound ways.  At times we miss the glory of God by being lazy in our contemplation.  Some food for thought.
